Anybody and everybody it seems, even those with little knowledge or experience, seem to be offering holiday tours these days. Flocks of tourists, led by the inevitable umbrella touting guide, can be seen trooping in large groups round historical sites, heads filling with useless dates and joyless anecdotes.
WoWSunTours Women Only Weeks aim to give our Solo Lady Travellers something very different; a true Italian Adventure with a distinct female twist, a holiday that pulls at the heart, that sings of and celebrates real Tuscan Summer life; no tick box tourism, no lists of overcrowded sights, but rather an immersion experience of the local Dolce Vita.
Based in Cortona, home of Frances Mayes’ best seller novel Under The Tuscan Sun, our weeks are packed with taster ‘multi activities’, organised as differing itineraries on a daily basis. These include walks, wine tastings, cooking classes, traditional local village festivals, hidden natural spa baths down forest tracks, ice cream and cocktail making, picnics in the rolling Tuscan hills, historical visits, and all with a few Italian lessons thrown in for good measure so you can throw yourself into the part! |
Summer 2024 also heralds the start of our WowSunTours Book Club Adventure, as well as our usual tours.
Using the vehicle of a Classic Italian novel, be it Under The Tuscan Sun, Extra Virgin, Room With a View, our remit is to guide you through the basic principles of local life, from olive oil season, to the grape harvest, to mouthwatering cookery, art, wine tasting, Italian dressing and style, the passeggiata, with the ever present background of the rhythm of the local countryside, as portrayed in any one of our chosen novel ‘book club’ weeks. We want you to experience your own Tuscan Sun Adventure with you as the main character in your own novel.
So if you are getting together with a bunch of girls to discuss an Italian book, why not do it in Tuscany, where it really happened, where you can live out the scenes and dreams and hopes of our weekly chosen text and experience Italy, not simply see it?
Both types of week are truly handheld; you’ll be met at the airport by our private transfer and taken to your charming, locally situated agriturismo accommodation, where you’ll have your own private apartment with private terrace, large communal swimming pool and gardens, as well as unforgettable views up to Cortona.
Each day we’ll meet you after breakfast and guide you expertly through each day’s tour, peppering the day with coffee and lunch stops. Book club weeks will include a discussion of the novel at some stage during the day as well as a carefully constructed itinerary which is based on the events of the novel.
In the evenings you’ll be taken to some of the most spectacular eateries in the area, to sample local fare and gorgeous wines.
Our groups of upto 8 women also offer the chance to make friends along the way, find new travel companions, learn some Italian, share stories and laugh. A lot.  |
